G. Thomas Ward
I was born in Portsmouth, Virginia, on St Patrick’s Day in 1969 into a Coast Guard Family. We spent a good deal of my childhood in New York City, where I grew to love baseball and especially the Yankees. We moved around a bit — California, North Carolina, Cape Cod — but my heart has always been in North Carolina. I followed in my father’s footsteps first to Wake Forest University then to UNC-Chapel Hill Dental School. I came to Carteret County when I graduated in 1995 and have loved it ever since! Currently, I live on Harkers Island, where I love to paddleboard, fish, sail and kayak with my dad; my son, Calvin; my wife, Scarlett; and my Lab, Ginger. Calvin and I enjoy building solid-body electric guitars, and you can usually find me in my shop building something or out in the yard tending to the chickens or the garden. My dental philosophy is simple — being kind, gentle and understanding goes a long way! I learned my techniques from the best school, and my demeanor from the best role model, and I strive every day to show the best of those aspects to my patients!
