A graduate of Wake Forest University for his undergraduate studies, he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered dentistry that combines the latest techniques with a gentle touch. Beyond the practice, Dr. Tom is deeply rooted in the coastal communities of eastern North Carolina. He and his beautiful wife, Scarlett, make their home in Harkers Island and cherish time together on the water around Harkers Island and Cape Lookout. Whether sailing, boating, or simply enjoying the outdoors, these moments recharge him and reinforce his appreciation for the natural beauty of the Crystal Coast. An avid woodworker, Dr. Tom finds joy and creativity in the craft, much like the precision and attention to detail he brings to every dental procedure. He is also an active member of Glad Tidings Church in Morehead City, where his faith and commitment to service shape both his personal life and his approach to patient care. Scarlett Ward, CDA Scarlett Ward is a dedicated Certified Dental Assistant with over 30 years of experience in the dental field. She graduated from the Dental Assisting Program at Coastal Carolina Community College in 1996 and has been passionate about providing exceptional patient care ever since. Throughout her career, Scarlett has enjoyed building relationships with patients and helping create positive dental experiences. Her commitment to excellence, compassion, and attention to detail have made her a valued member of the dental team for three decades. Outside of the office, Scarlett is blessed to be married to her amazing husband, Dr. Ward. Together they enjoy life on Harkers Island, North Carolina, where they live and spend time boating, relaxing on their deck, and making memories with family and friends. Scarlett is also the proud mother of her 18-year-old son, Gage and stepmother to Calvin. Faith and family are at the center of Scarlett's life. She has been with Oceanside Family Dentistry since March of 2017 and is the first friendly face you will see as you walk in our door. She is committed to providing the best customer service to all of our patients, no matter their needs, so that they may have the best dental experience possible. She is kind, patient, and dedicated to her job, no matter what task is given. Kara enjoys spending time outdoors, listening to all different types of music, and getting some sand between her toes at the sound.
